Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon instant yeast

1 tablespoon sugar

1 teaspoon salt

¾ cup warm water (about 110°F or 43°C)

2 tablespoons olive oil (plus extra for brushing)

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon garlic powder

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for topping)

Instructions

In a small bowl, mix the warm water, sugar, and instant yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Create a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture along with the olive oil.

Mix until a soft dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover it with a damp towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.

Once risen, punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a long rope (about 8 inches) and tie it into a knot.

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the knots on a lined baking sheet.

In a small pan, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic, oregano, and garlic powder. Sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant, ensuring not to burn the garlic.

Brush the garlic oil mixture generously over each knot before baking.

Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.

Remove from the oven, and if desired, sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the knots while they’re still warm.

Garnish with fresh parsley and serve warm.
