1/2cupall-purpose flour
1/2cupunsalted butter, softened
1/4teaspoonsalt
1/2teaspoonnutmeg
1cupcaramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples with brown sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, and 1 tablespoon of flour. Toss until the apples are evenly coated.
Transfer the apple mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
In another bowl, combine the rolled oats, 1/2 cup of flour, softened butter, salt, nutmeg, and the remaining brown sugar. Use your fingers or a pastry cutter to mix until crumbly.
Sprinkle the oat mixture over the apples, ensuring even coverage.
Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are bubbling.
Once done, remove the crisp from the oven and drizzle the caramel sauce over the top while it’s still warm.
Let it cool for a few minutes before serving to allow flavors to meld.
Notes
Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top, drizzled with additional caramel sauce, and a sprinkle of crushed nuts for added texture.
